Graveborn
A candlelit civilization with a corpse for a heart, ruled by whichever necromancer commands the ancient skull that quickens the dead. Their cities are safe, rich, and full of living and risen alike, and their loyalties turn the moment the throne does.
The necromancer whose living hand currently rests upon the skull, and so commands the numberless dead until someone pries it away. Corvane rules a courteous, well-fed realm and smiles at her guests over dinner, and every guest knows the smile could outlive them. She did not take the throne to serve death. She took it because the alternative was to be ruled by someone worse.
