Warclans: the Bloodgreen

Updated Jul 23, 2026

Orcs who love the world enough to drown it. Nature's wrath given tusks. Bloodlust with a prayer on its lips.

The orcs love the living world as fiercely as any elf, and this is the thing no one expects of them. They are protectors of the planet, worshippers of ancient nature-gods older and grimmer than the elves' gentle Mother, gods bound to the raw spirit and soul of the world, to the churn beneath the green. But where the Grovewardens serve Harmony, the Warclans serve the world's other soul, and their scripture is written in blood.

Their doctrine is a terrible mercy. They believe the world is dying, and that its sickness has a name: the clever beasts. Any creature grown too smart, any people that builds and burns and bends the land to its want, is a tumor on the Mother's body, and the salvation of the world is to scour every such people from it and leave the earth to the honest, unthinking beasts. They celebrate violence as worship and death as a sacrament, and they are capable of a bloodlust so total it frightens even their allies. They are also, strangely, gardeners. They are without peer at coaxing forests back from barren ground, raising green cities on wasteland, and they take great care never to encroach on the elves' woods. Which is why the two green peoples, so utterly unlike, do not quite make war.

The drum beneath the drum

They hate the Exemplaris most of all, and the hatred is generational and mutual. The Radiant Dominion is everything the Warclans were made to unmake: the cleverest, proudest, most world-devouring empire of them all. And there is a shadow on the clans. They are close to the things from the Pit, easily lured, easily corrupted, and more than one warband has marched to a nature-god's drum and woken to find something older and hungrier beating it.

Where they stand

  • Hated foe: the Exemplaris.
  • Uneasy neutral: the Grovewardens.
  • Dangerous ally: the Voidwrought, whose corruption they never quite see coming.

See the Warclans in the wiki for their units, buildings, and leader.
